Help me give my students exciting tools such as neon kiwi stix, neon oil pastels, and fluorescent tempera paints that will glow in UV LED Black Light and create intrigue and enthusiasm for visual arts.
I am thrilled to begin my second year of teaching art in the city! Though I am grateful to have an art room for the students, the classroom is fairly barren with very limited supplies. It is imperative for student success to have access to an enriched art program, therefore I will need as many supplies as I can obtain for the school year and I rely on the generosity of donors like you!
All students no matter what their backgrounds and where they live, deserve an equitable chance at an education and an art education!
With 68 percent of my students coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and no budget provided to the art program, I am eager to raise funds to support the educational success of my students.
My Project
I have requested materials for all grade levels to participate in a glow gallery at our end of the year fund raiser and art show entitled, Bache in Bloom. It is my goal to turn my art room into a gallery featuring at least one work of art from each student that uses neon and fluorescent materials that will glow in the UV black lights.
I aim to create a space that when students, siblings, parents, and the community enter, "oooohs and ahhhhs," smiles and excitement are the reaction!
These reactions will bring a sense of achievement, confidence, and ownership to the students and will also showcase the importance of art to the community.
