Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am writing this proposal for my high school students who participate in our vocal music program. Our high school serves a large urban area and has a high percentage of students from low income homes. Our student body is culturally diverse and provides our school community an opportunity to experience languages and customs from many cultures as we interact every day.
Many of my students do not have the opportunity to explore and experience high-quality music instruction outside of the school setting.
It is exciting to see them grow in their knowledge and excitement of music. Many of our students will continue their participation in the music program for 3 or 4 years during high school.
My Project
Many of my students do not come to school with proper clothing during the winter months. I see students walking into school every day during the coldest winter days without gloves to keep warm. I am asking for gloves to give to my students who do not have access to warm clothing during the winter season. My students have many challenges that they face on a daily basis. Providing them with gloves to keep warm will be one less thing that they need worry about as they make their way through each challenging day. Hopefully, this will translate to better concentration and success in their school activities.
