Our school is in a high poverty area. Our school is growing, and we have many new students. First grade is different now than when we were in school. We know so many more things about how to challenge our students and prepare them for their future.
Engagement is key for our students.
We want them to be engaged in their learning so they stay in school and succeed! My school has focused on engagement in all of our classrooms. We want our students to learn and be successful and have fun at the same time.
My Project
My class loves to learn! I want them to keep that love of learning throughout the year. Motivating games and supplies will help that to happen. They are a wonderful group of students and I want to give them everything they need to succeed in school!
Learning games will help that engagement to happen!
The students might think they are playing, but they will be learning and reinforcing previous learning all while having a lot of fun!
The math games will be used during our math block each day. One of our stations is playing a math game to reinforce their skills they are learning in class. The Osmo game will be used during this time and also during our Makerspace activities! STEM activities are the wave of the future and I want my students well prepared for what the future will bring!
The iPad stands funded on my last project were well received! We received 5 and now all of my students love and use them everyday! We are asking for another 5 to keep them motivated during their daily online portion of the lessons. They prop up their ipads on their tables using a supply box or a privacy partition. These stands keep them focused on their learning which is a win!
The glue sticks for this project are well needed in first grade! We go through so many of them! I would love to have an extra supply to draw from for any of my students that transfer in throughout the year or students who just cannot bring in the supplies they need.
