More than half of students from low‑income households

My students need a netbook, a weather station, a bulletin board set, and a text in order to develop technology and science skills that will compare and contrast global and local weather.
As educators we must work to create globally aware students. My students need to develop this level of thinking while relating it to their daily life in order to grasp the large concept. We work every day in our class to understand the wide world around us.
I teach a self-contained special education classroom of students with various disabilities.
We are located in a diverse rural area of North Carolina with in an area considered to be high poverty as well as military. My differently abled students are motivated, creative, and inquisitive!
I am asking for materials that will help support our intiative to create global learning. Our classroom needs an updated computer that we will use to track data and created weather journals. The weather station will allow students to gather daily information about our local weather while using the new computer to compare and contrast to other parts of the world. The informational text requested will be used for student to use as a reference when gathering and organizing their data. Our antiquated technology and lack of hands on science supplies will not allow for the creation of this project which will enhance my students students learning through both global awareness and as technology pioneers.
Because our school has been so negatively impacted by budget cuts, it is difficult to replace old and defective equipment.
Funding this project would allow us to do projects that we can not presently completed with due to the lack of supplies and materials.
