My Students

My rural students are avid readers who are eager to connect with other students their age.

My 4th and 5th graders live in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.

This is a rural, poor area of the state. We are a small K-8 school with limited resources. Our library's book collection is quite small and we only have a librarian one day a week. Thus, we rely heavily on classroom libraries. I am attempting to build a strong classroom library.

My Project

My students need books including Exclamation Mark, It's Not Fair!, and The OK Book. These books will allow my students to participate in the 2015 Global Read Aloud which kicks off in October. We participated in the Global Read Aloud in 2014 and it was a wonderful experience. My students were able to connect with students from across this country and other countries to discuss a book, The 14th Goldfish. We participated in blogs and video discussions with a variety of classes. This year I would love students to participate in the author study as well as read a chapter book.

Donations to this project will connect my readers with readers across the world.

They will be able to share and discuss common books and will learn about geography and other cultures by communicating with readers around the globe.
