My students are scholars, they are talented individuals who are eager to learn something new. Most come from a single parent household, and from a low socio-economic status. They come to class each day willing to learn despite many of the challenges that they face.
My scholars are open to taking risks and trying new things.
Many of my scholars are unfamiliar with podcasting but they are eager to learn more about it and to try it out. My scholars go to a charter school in an urban district. They don't let stereotypes or misconceptions about them stop them from achieving success, they try their best on a daily basis to make their family, teachers, and friends proud. I am proud to be their teacher.
My Project
My scholars get excited when I incorporate technology into my lessons. They are highly engaged and want to participate in the lesson. My scholars attend a school focused on the Arts. They love to express themselves. I plan on using podcasting to help my scholars express themselves and to show their learning. My scholars will record themselves and communicate different ideas to their intended audience. Additionally, they will create scripts about current events and about things that they are learning about in the classroom. They will edit, and reflect on the things that they record in order to ensure that they are effectively communicating with their audience.
Podcasting will allow my scholars to become autonomous 21st century learners where they are in charge of improving the quality of their work.
My scholars will be creating multimedia items that they can share with individuals all over the world. They will be in control of what they produce, so it will require them to speak effectively, be reflective, and knowledgeable about what they are recording.
