My Students

Even though we are from a rural school, my students are constantly learning about the world and the people that live in it! I teach an elective called Global Citizenship. This elective encourages students to become involved members of the global community. Students investigate the beautiful world that surrounds them through reading books about the world. My class is structured around culture, global issues, and current events. We try to obtain a global education from our very own classroom in Clayton, Indiana.

My students are curious about the world around them and continue to seek new and exciting experiences.

They love to ask questions, debate, and explore the treasures this world has to offer from their classroom seats.

My Project

The materials used will make a dramatic difference in the lives of every student who will read its pages. The book Refugee will allow my students to view world issues and current events from the safety of their own classroom.

The donations of this project will better help my students understand global issues by examining them through the eyes of kids their age.

Students will read independently, work in groups, and connect with other students from around the globe. This specific book was used in the Global Read Aloud program in 2018. However, I have found a group of international teachers who will read Refugee in 2020. This book will help students better understand the current events with refugees we see throughout history.
