My students need supplies for their cafe including a blender, smoothie mix, iced tea and lemonade mix, cake pop maker, and cake mix to make their venture a success.
Remember when you were young and couldn't wait to open up a lemonade stand at the corner of your block. Well my students live in an inner city and opening a lemonade stand on their busy streets isn't possible. What is possible, though, is for them to open a business venture at school.
Our school is a Microsociety school in an inner city.
Our school promotes problem solving and real world instruction within our community. My students are fun, creative, and hardworking individuals. Each day they come to my class ready to give 110%. My students run a cafe within our school community. A typical day consists of business meetings, inventory checklists, production of products, expense reports, income ledgers, and generating new ideas to incorporate into the business. Every day requires problem solving and planning ahead in order to make this venture successful. Just recently they produced their mission statement. I am so proud of them for their passion and drive to succeed in the world of business.
My Project
As you know running a business isn't easy and, quite frankly, costly at times. As a cafe, we are producing products that are consumable and need to be replenished often. When students buy our products they use play money to make their purchases. This is money they earn while working at their ventures or agencies. The resources we are asking for will help sustain our business. Any donated items will go straight to the warehouse and be available for purchase from our students to supply their businesses.

These students have the amazing opportunity to understand what it is like to live, work, and play in a community. My students are learning to be leaders and work together as a team for one common purpose, a successful business. With your help, I know this is possible.
