Help me give my students the ability to explore Spanish-speaking countries through virtual field trips. Google Cardboard allows for enhanced experiences beyond what videos and pictures provide. My Montana students will be able to "travel" the world!
I teach 7th and 8th grade Spanish in Montana. My lessons connect students with Spanish-speaking communities and engage them in valuable global perspectives. These students are caring, creative, and motivated to make a difference in their community.
All of these learners are eager to explore their world.
While some may have opportunities to travel, many will not. Through the use of technology, I aim to provide my students with authentic experiences and an understanding of their roles as global citizens.
My Spanish students in Montana are eager to connect and learn about different cultures around the globe. The World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages identified five goal areas: communication, culture, connections, comparisons, and community.
Human experiences stem from language and communication.
By focusing our lesson objectives on these goal areas, students understand their roles in our local and global communities. Technology, such as Google Cardboard, is a resource that can help us transcend boundaries. Many of these students may never have the opportunity to leave Montana, but the experiences in my classroom will provide them with invaluable global perspectives to help them navigate our world.
