This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a small, proud school, around 600 students, in the farming town of Linden. Our community prides itself on growing cherries and walnuts with students. After 30 years of a proud art program, things fell in disrepair over the last 5-6 years. As a new teacher, I'm looking to get kids excited about art again. So far, we're on the right track and want to keep our momentum going strong!

My Project

Our students have made some amazing ceramics sculptures this year. But before they can take them home, they need glaze (or have color painted on). It's expensive and we need your help so the students can finish their work. Ceramics require special paint called glaze or underglaze. It must be baked in a very hot oven called a kiln. Once our kids paint the pieces and bake them, they are ready to be shown off to families and be placed on the mantle piece. We have a stock pile of some amazing vases, mugs and figurines that are waiting to get those finishing touches.
