My Project

My name is Jill Neeley and I am a Special Education teacher at MYAP. I am asking for your support in providing craft supplies for our students, as we believe these materials will significantly impact their learning experience.

Our students possess unique qualities that make them special individuals.

The students voted to make glass magnets to sell on our community coffee cart. The proceeds from our coffee cart help pay for outing fees, vocational materials to expand our life skills learning, and other student needs.

Creating the crafts together will allow for multi-sensory learning, which many of our students benefit from as craft activities engage various senses, such as touch, sight, and fine motor skills. This hands-on approach creates a more meaningful connection to academic concepts and fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter. It also help promote creativity and a way for the students to express themselves creatively. Through art and craft, our students can communicate, share their feelings, and showcase their talents in ways that transcend traditional academic methods. Finally, collaborative craft projects encourage teamwork and social interaction among our students. As they work together on creative endeavors, they develop important social skills, such as communication, cooperation, and problem-solving. These interactions contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment.
