My students need snacks and water bottles to get through the day to make sure they are eating and staying hydrated. Also, deodorant for personal hygiene.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is in a high poverty area where students have grown up with many hardships. The majority of my students are Hispanic with English as their second language. Ninety-eight percent of our students qualify for free lunch.
My students come to my class wanting a safe environment from hardships they may be dealing with outside of school!
These 5th graders know, though, that my classroom is a safe place for them to be. Each one of them is a caring student who holds high values of respect and responsibility. All my students are very enthusiastic to learn and grow their minds for their futures! My goal is to continue giving my students this safe, comfortable learning environment to continue their learning.
My Project
Some of my students do not have a clue where they will be sleeping at night or over weekends and breaks. My students sometimes come in without eating breakfast or not having much the night before because of this. There are times they come in late because they are unable to get sleep where they are. They are missing breakfast and come in hungry.
These items in this project is a way for me to make sure every child has food in their stomachs for the day.
I want to make sure every student have something to eat in the times when they are hungry. A snack will give them something in their stomachs until lunch time. I picked healthy snacks that are quick but filling.
I will be creating a bin for when my students need a breakfast because they came in late or need a snack during the day, they will be able to go into this bin and grab a pick me up. Or even if they need a snack to take home for the day.
We will be having long breaks throughout the school year. I will be able to make little snack bags using the gatorade and snacks for students to take home when they will not be able to eat school food.
The water bottles are for the students to stay hydrated where ever they will be.
Many students do not have access to personal hygiene items. Deodorant will be passed out for these students to keep in their locker to freshen up at the beginning of the day if they were not able to before coming to school.
