My students need 3 book carts. These students volunteer in the school library. They are having problems shelving all the returned books - so it's time they got organized!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine you are an 8th grade aide in the school library. A third-grade class has just returned its books. That's around 60 books. They have to go back onto the shelves now, before the next crowd of munchkins arrives. Too late! Here comes another class. Soon you'll have 120 books to put back!
The children who help run the school library are between 10 and 14 years old.
Some are assigned to the library as teacher aides during school hours. Others come voluntarily every day, before and after school, to assist the librarian. That's me, by the way. I could not BEGIN to run the library without these kids' help. Some of the children have been volunteering in the library for three years now, ever since I lost my library clerk to the educational cuts. Our students love their library, and check out an awful lot of books...which means that the library helpers have a real tough time of it putting all of the returned books back on the shelves. You'd be surprised how quickly they can pile up. So, please, please help me make life easier for my assistants. It's just a question of organization.
My Project
The helpers need library carts. No more schlepping books to the shelves by hand. They need a better system. We've sat down together and decided to ask the good folks at donorschoose (the OTHER group of people who are indispensable to our library!) for three library carts. There is a reason why the kids suggested that we ask for three. They want one cart for the Easy Section, one cart for the Fiction Section, and one cart for Non-Fiction. Some of our volunteers are pretty young, so we've gone for carts that are small and manageable. I might add that the carts are tough, according to online reviews, and, compared to most book carts out there, cheap. They are also a pleasant almond color. Appearance is important. The library has to look good.
With these carts, my students will be able to move checked-in books from the circulation desk to the library shelves quickly, and efficiently.
The carts should save the kids a lot of work. They will also teach them a thing or two about making a hard job easy through organization - a lesson even the brightest (sometimes, especially the brightest) children need to learn. Please help me to look after my volunteers and library aides. They always have my back. Now it's my turn to help them!
