My Students

I've got 36 active and energetic learners who love learning about the world around them! We are located in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, and we have a small, but very diverse population.

My class is filled with dreamers and builders!

Our school's focus is on integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM), which fits in perfectly with what our class loves to do. My students get excited about learning and creating and my job is to help them dream big and reach their goals.

My Project

My students need great books to read! It's well known that boys often find it hard to relate to the literature. Holes, by Louis Sachar is an exciting adventure sure to get everyone reading. I didn't get the full funding last time I posted, so I'm hoping this time we can do it! This is such a special project and I know it will be great for the kids!

It's well documented that boys find it harder to relate to literature than girls do.

Harry Potter and Percy Jackson are amazing stories but it's not easy to find exciting novels about boys with more realistic problems.

Holes by Louis Sachar is a great book to get all kids engaged in reading.

When Stanley gets falsely accused of stealing a pair of expensive tennis shoes, he's sent to a boys' work camp and gets caught up in a mystery involving a family curse and hidden treasure. While there is enough intrigue to keep strong readers involved, the book moves at an easier pace so struggling students can keep up.

A class set of books would help us all learn to love reading!
