I am a third-grade classroom teacher from a Title I school with over 50% of the students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. My students are kindhearted and passionate learners who are very active! They enjoy moving around the classroom and appreciate positive attention and choices.
Many of my students face challenges beyond their control.
I am looking for simple ways to help them become inspired and grow as learners. I want them to come to school and see a place that is safe, comfortable, and flexible enough to meet their needs.
My Project
My 3rd-grade learners love to be active and creative when they are at school. Because of this, we do many hands-on projects to get students out of their seats and to allow them to truly demonstrate what they have learned. I also feel that it is very important to keep families engaged in what we are doing in school as well. When parents and other family members are informed and excited about what we are learning, it makes students even more motivated to do their best work.
Through this project, we will be receiving an ipevo document camera which I believe can be a great tool to further develop student enthusiasm as well as parent involvement.
When we have large classroom projects, we often invite parents in to see the final results. In a room packed with families, it can be hard to view projects with lots of people huddled around desks. With this new document camera, student projects could be projected up on our big screen and more families would be able to view student work. On a weekly basis, my students also use the app SeeSaw to send parents photos and videos of what they are doing at school. Our new document camera would be an easy kid-friendly way for students to capture their work on camera and seamlessly send it to their families. By using Seesaw, parents are able to feel far more connected to their children during the day! I hope you consider donating to our project and allowing us to engage families in the learning process!
