I teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in an after school club that is open to students from all five of our campus schools. We have a diverse population of students that include; low income, students with special needs, students with autism, at risk students, etc. We offer martial arts training free of charge to any student interested this training program. My students work as a team together and are always willing to help one another. Our students have formed a bond between each other that would have never been possible if it were not for the Jiu Jitsu club. We have students that were extremely quiet and shy and have become outgoing and confident in all their academic and personal skills. Our students are able to release energy in a safe and supervised environment.
My Project
I teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in an after school club that is open to students from all five of our campus schools. We have a diverse population of students that include; low income, students with special needs, at risk students, etc. Brazilian Jii Jitsu teaches Confidence through Self-Defense,Problem Solving Skills,Discipline, Dedication, and Respect. Our club has been featured in the UFT magazine, News 12 The Bronx, and in the NY Post.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu offers a way for our students to release energy and stress through exercise and fitness.
It helps them build friendships, Improve body awareness and coordination. It also helps Improve students self esteem. These Gis will be used by 16 of our students that don't currently have a gi. In our club it is important that all students have the proper attire so that they feel part of the team.
