I have been very fortunate to teach at my current school for the past twelve years. I teach in a very small, rural community. Many of my students come from low-income homes.
Although these students don't always have the best, they are sure to bring their best.
Our students come to school with a smile on their faces and an eagerness to learn as much as possible. Our students are willing to work hard and are always showing their dedication to learning.
My Project
I am requesting a complete set of high interest intervention reading folders. This set has six copies of a collection of fiction and nonfiction passages with graphics and topics that students will be excited to learn and read about. These passages are grade and level appropriate so that all readers can be successful. The skills reinforced are: central message, reading for details, making inferences, main idea, and sequencing. These skills are very important in building successful readers.
Every student deserves to be inspired and excited to read even if they are a struggling reader.
This kit will provide many opportunities to reach students on all levels. The kit is designed to help students become successful and enthusiastic readers. Lesson plans are included and are precise and specific to make them more effective. Assessments are also included to monitor students' progress.
These intervention tools will be such a wonderful help to many students. It is my goal to encourage and inspire my students to become strong and excited readers. I appreciate your consideration in helping fund these materials for my amazing students.
