Give Us the Freedom to Go Anywhere... While Still Inside
Help me give my students better quality videos. We are 100% remote learning right now, and I would love to go online live and take them on remote field trips with the iPad.
We are a small all EC high school. Our students are very unique with great imaginations and are highly creative. As with most special needs students, they love hands-on activities. Students in my agriculture class are very interested in the material - especially the plants and animals. This is usually one of their first exposures to those areas.
What really sets our students apart though is their love for making their environment better and helping each other out.
They have big creative ideas! They come up with new ways to do things and are enthusiastic to share what they learn with others.
My Project
We are all remote for the first quarter and probably much further into the school year. I want to be able to bring the agriculture and science to life for my students... but it's just so hard with only a laptop and a cheap cell phone (hey I make teacher money) to create content... An iPad would allow me to take my kids on better remote field trips and get them out in this glorious world of agriculture. Once we are back in the classroom, we will use the iPad to promote our plant growing and chicken raising businesses. My students are very creative and would do a great job handling social media, marketing and promotion for our business with an easy to use a tool like an iPad. Working on these items really helps my students with their life skills - such as the soft skills of communication, working together, customer service, and other areas that my students really struggle. I'd like to be able to give them a real-world experience using this iPad for our business once we are back in school... Until then it would be used to create content that helps them get out in the world and explore... while safe at home.
