Hooray! This project is fully funded

I have recently been assigned to another school to teach orchestra to beginning fourth and fifth graders. In the past this school has only had 2 to 4 students in each grade level learning a string instrument even though there are over 75 students in each grade. As an observer of this program for the past 10 years I have always felt that the low participation was a direct result of the low incomes of the parents. Many parents don't want to say, "I can't afford an instrument, can you help me?" Going in to recruit these students last week, I specifically made a point to let them know that I can help. I do have a small supply of school instruments and also some that have been donated from the community(7 total). I went to pick up the registration forms this week and much to my surprise and excitement I have 25 students that are requesting loaner instruments. Wow!!! I have always believed that giving kids a chance to try a musical instrument will help them in many ways. They learn how to belong in a part of a group, work together toward attainable goals, experience success, and much more. A majority of students at this school come from immigrant families where school was not important after eight grade, so sometimes an extra class such as orchestra will keep kids in school longer, hopefully all the way to graduation. I would like to purchase 5 Hoffman Violin Outfits. These 5 violins would give different students year after year a chance to try, a chance to grow, a chance to become... Thanks.
