Help me give my students this book series as it is very effective in teaching children to read and feel successful and excited about reading in small group interventions.
I have a large group of students this year that began second grade and could not read. With the lack of being in school (due to COVID) I am finding that we are playing catch up in fundamental skills. Additionally, in second grade we build students stamina to read more text. I have found, with this series of books it is phenomenal to build their skills from the ground up. I used the books in reading groups and they love them. At first, it was amazing for them if they could read a page. Now, the most exciting part is when the students complete the book and the students feel a sense of accomplishment. We are almost up to book 5 and 6. We really need support getting these sets so we can continue to build our skills as these books begin to focus on glued sounds and long vowels and they are ready to begin practicing with these words.
