My Students

Westlake band students are caring, positive, hard-working, driven, and kind. They love music and they love spending time with one another. For me as a teacher, they are the reason for showing up everyday. Sure, music is our curriculum and we work so hard to create amazing musical experiences, but the best thing about what we do is the human connections we make.

My Project

One of the most important things a musician can work on is good tone and intonation. A good tuner is a vital resource in developing an instrumentalists sense of tone.

These tuners will be made available for students to use in class or to check out to use at home.

Having a tuner during practice time or rehearsals helps students to identify notes on their instruments that require adjustment or notes within a chord that need adjustment when playing in a full band setting. These specific Korg TM-60 tuners are specially designed to help students identify tuning for the Third in Major and Minor chords; something that is critical to ensemble playing.
