My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My class is part of a Title I school, where more than 85% of the students are on free or reduced-price lunches.

This school year my class consists of twenty-five students; four receive special education services for specific learning disabilities.

My Project

With your help, I will be designing my classroom to meet the needs of all of my students.

By differentiating my seating, it will allow my students the opportunity to be engaged in lessons, without being expected to sit in traditional seating.

It will give them the freedom to choose their seating and to take ownership of their own learning while following teacher driven instructions. They will also be able to have an active outlet without disrupting their learning.

By donating to this project, it will help those with ADHD and Autism to develop a sense of community among the students, which in the long run will improve their social skills.

Flexible seating can and will benefit their excessive need for movement or other body sensations.
