Our school is located in an urban setting and is very diverse. From ethnic to family to economic diversity, we celebrate everyone! Our school is an inclusive school which means every class has students with special needs. We teach a peaceful approach to learning together. I teach lovely little learners.

My Project
While school can be a place that feels happy and hopeful for many, some students experience school differently. They may not have had breakfast and might be fighting hunger pains while being expected to be attentive and active learners.
As teachers we are responsible for A,B,Cs and 1,2,3s, but when a child is hungry that becomes a priority over everything.
My students need to have access to instant oatmeal and fruit bars when they feel hungry. They also can add dried fruit to their oatmeal. They can have this food when ever they feel hungry. I need to have tweezers for splinters and nail clippers for hang nails. My students need lotion and vaseline for dry skin and lips. When my students are sick they need a thermometer so I can take their temperature. They need cough drops when they come to school with a cough. I use essential oils for a calming environment. They like lavender and peppermint oils. My students need a clean learning environment. We need lysol wipes and disinfectant spray. All of these items will make school a welcoming and nurturing environment for all.
