Help me give my students high interest books-- at their level-- so they can build their comprehension skills and work toward reading at grade level and beyond!
My students are committed to preparing for LIFE. This means that while academics are of course an emphasis, we also spend a ton of time building our classroom culture and learning how we are better TOGETHER! We love to read and write in our flexible seating- whether it is at our barista table, standing desk, or in a comfy inflatable chair.
In my classroom you would see students who are not only connected to their teacher but to one another and to their school community as a whole.
We laugh a lot, we make mistakes, and from these things we learn. We learn about failure, success and everything in between.
My Project
Many of my students are reading below grade level. Without access to high interest books that they can independently read, we are not seeing the progress that we would like to see in the classroom.
With the purchase of books such as:
"Jennifer Serrvallo's Go-To Books", Stone Fox, and Roald Dahl favorites, we can spend less time trying to source appropriate books and more time planning instruction to truly meet the needs of these students! I am looking forward to even more success in my one-on-one and small group work with students, with the support of these materials.
Students will be able to monitor their growth and feel successful- which will only motivate them to stick with reading!
