Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Here at our school, we have over 500 students. We are a Title I school, which means that our students come from lower income households. Our school is a brand-new school, and we are very excited to be in the brand-new building and to start our own legacy.
I am the music teacher, which means that I get to teach every student in the building.
My students love to come to music to sing, dance, play instruments, and, most importantly, to learn!
My Project
My students love to create new beats and rhythms to music. I don't think a day goes by where I don't have a student drumming on their chair with their hand or tapping a pencil on a table. With these new instruments, my students will be given a new way to be creative in my class.
Creativity is such a big part of music.
Whether they are creating something by themselves or with others, it is important to give the students a chance to create something musical of their own. With these new instruments, they can add some new rhythms to a song they already know, a background beat to a rap they created, or even a new routine for a drum circle. The opportunities are endless with their own creativity and imagination.
The stickers will give them the ability to fill out their skills chart with fun objects instead of regular old check marks. They love to see the progress they have made from the beginning of the year, and a skills chart is a great way to do this.
