I have the wonderful opportunity of teaching amazing, talented and eager to learn kindergarteners. This last year has been a challenge teaching virtually and blended but we figured it out and we are doing our best to get it done.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds which creates a beautiful array of cultures, languages and stories to tell.
They are each unique and special, however one thing they all have in common is their desire to learn.
While virtual learning isn't ideal, it has provided an opportunity for the students to see each other up close and personal, both literally and figuratively. They share their lives and homes with each other every time they log on to our web class. I love how they have found ways to create friendships and relationships despite the difficulty of virtual learning. They love to visit with each other before and after class and during our breaks.
Their excitement for learning and desire to be together give me encouragement to keep-on-keeping-on every day. I am so blessed!
My Project
Scholastic Let's Find Out magazines offer an array of topics in both Social Studies and Science areas. Living on an island, our students don't get to experience seasons, cultures, opportunities, etc. that other students living in other areas might have. These magazines allow them to experience those things. The magazines come with a digital component that includes videos, worksheets, and other activities/games.
Due to the hit on our economy, we were informed that our supply money will most likely be non-existent this next school year.
That means our funds for the Scholastic magazines is gone. Having used these magazines for several years, I am so sad to think we won't be able to utilize this valuable resource next school year.
As the grade level team leader this year, I am requesting this resource on behalf of my whole grade level which consists of 5 classes, to be used in the school year 2021-2022.
