My students are an incredible group of kind, loving and motivated children! They have been following our school wide expectations (Always Show Respect, Effectively Solve Problems and Demonstrate Good Decisions) to develop their leadership skills. My Project
Kindergarten has changed a lot over the 20 plus years that I have been teaching. As a kindergarten teacher and college professor of Child Development, I have spent many hours researching the benefits of flexible (alternative) seating in learning environments, visiting classrooms that are using it, and attending workshops that discuss this concept.
By giving my kindergarten students comfortable seating options like yoga balls, wobble seats, bouncy bands, and soft cushions, I believe they will be empowered to make choices that benefit their learning styles in a developmentally appropriate environment.
