Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Speech-Language Pathologist, working with the Special Education population, my students face so many challenges and are the hardest working kids I know. They are determined to make a difference in their lives and take ownership of their language skills. Every student deserves a voice and I am able to work with these students to give them one. I work at a title one school, so on top of socioeconomic difficulties that my children face, they also struggle with learning disabilities- despite all of these challenges they are always so happy and ready to work hard.
My Project
These materials will support students speech and language development. Speech and language skills are the foundation of many other skills taught in school. These will help teach and motivate the kids that I serve. The books support expressive and receptive language development as well as articulation, social skills and more. The games are highly motivating and allow the students to have fun while working hard. The comfy chair will support my students with behavior difficulties and social emotional needs. All together, these supplies will make a big difference in the lives of the students in special education at this title one school.
