Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are some of the most amazing little people; they work hard and persevere through the toughest academic and life challenges.
To show up bright and early each day is not always easy for adults, so just imagine our children, who at times have so many other daily responsibilities, while still we expect them to also show up ready to work.
Some of them are babysitters, home care, cooks and more for their family while being the best student they can be.
My Student Council Group is a small group of ambitious student, who were chosen to learn to make a difference in the life of others and the world. We hold meetings once a week. They are responsible for the school's sustainability efforts/recycling, the peace garden, student concerns, assist lower grade teachers on their lunch breaks, host peer talks, lunchtime craft events, healthy tasting, help in the school's library and so much more.
My Project
These art supplies and journals will certainly help my students relax and to share their thoughts. This is week seven since they have been held up at home. There is no going outside, no going to school to see their teachers, friends, gym, art, to enjoy school lunch....to get a hug from me. Knowing my students well, they like being creative. Providing water colors with paint brushes and paper will certainly help at this time. Journals are perfect for them to jot their thoughts daily or as often as they would like. Sometime life seems a little calmer when we write or doodle in a journal.
Keeping a journal at this time will be an excellent way for each student to make a 'private historical document'.
Each student will be encouraged to write about their feelings, thoughts, events, family, covid19, etc.
