Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most (90%) of our wonderful students live below or near the poverty line. About 60% of our students are learning English in school. Sometimes, our school struggles to get the resources we need to teach and care for our incredible students. This makes the job of a school even more important.
Many students we teach experience poverty, but that's just where they are starting.
Our students love to create art and read. They write computer code and even perform Shakespeare. They have big dreams, but they need to work hard now. Help them reach for those dreams!
My Project
The kids in my class love coming to school and learning, but my classroom feels empty and sterile.
Our school doesn't have any extra budget for all the little things that make a classroom feel like a cozy, fun place to learn-- that's why we need your help!
You will be sending us a massive box full of everything a classroom needs. Kids will have a calendar and a birthday chart so we can celebrate all their birthdays. Kids will have markers and pens so they can make posters and decorate their space. We will have a scratch off map, so each time we scratch off countries every time we read a new book from a different part of the world. These are the things that get kids excited to come to school and learn. Thank you for making a big difference.
