My students need leveled readers for small group reading instruction that is differentiated to meet their individual reading needs. The leveled readers in this project are of the highest quality and are highly engaging to students!
I am the lucky teacher to 26 voracious 2nd grade readers! Our school is located in a suburb outside Washington, D.C. My classroom is a true melting pot comprised of students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and abilities.
The readers in my classroom have a tremendous love of reading and span a wide variety of reading levels and abilities.
Most of my students are blessed to come from homes where books are accessible, but finding high-quality books for beginning and developing readers can often be a challenge.
My Project
The leveled reading books in this project will be used on a daily basis to engage my students in small group reading instruction. These books will allow my students to practice decoding strategies, learn new vocabulary, and engage them in comprehension strategies that will serve them as readers for the rest of their lives!
My students are blessed to come from middle-class families, but that means our school does not receive the funding it needs to purchase high-quality instructional reading materials like these leveled reading books.
My students work very hard every day to become stronger readers, but because our school's quality reading materials are not abundant, they do not get to practice these important early reading skills as often as they should or with books that are appropriate for them.
With these leveled reading books, my students reading levels will be able to improve dramatically causing them to become more engaged, confident readers which will hopefully lead them to a lifelong love affair with reading!
