Mrs. Seaton from Rock Springs WY is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Girls Who Code

My students need the laptops to be able to work on their coding projects. Each girl will be doing a separate project in coding such as cybersecurity, learning python, HTML5, Java or C+.

My Students

We are considered the alternative school for our district. My students have very diverse learning backgrounds and come to our school because it fits their needs.

Project-based learning is emphasized and many students use technology on a daily basis to access their classes.

Teachers here are very caring and understand the unique student body we have. We have a small student body, about 100, which allows for personal one-on-one instruction.

Our students have access to our local community college, which is right across the street. I enjoy working here as our students' main goal is to be the best they can be.

My Project

I am would like to start a Girls Who Code after-school club to teach and let girls explore the world of computer science.

My school is considered the alternative school and the girls who come here have not had the chance to explore the possibility of a computer science career.

I hope to change that by giving them this chance to learn to program, learn about computer forensics, cyber security, and cryptography in computer science. Many of the girls who come here have the belief they are too dumb or cannot learn something that they feel only the smart kids can do. I want to give them that chance.
