This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My rugby practices are tough and rigorous. We practice almost every day during the season, and the girls are anxious to learn.

My athletes come from a diverse background in Queens, NY and are just learning the sport of rugby.

Most of my team played last year for the first time and still have much room for improvement. The girls have stressed they want to work hard this offseason to get in shape to play better this year.

My Project

My athletes are still in the learning phase of rugby, and proper tackling is often a problem. Although we practice tackling and proper form in practice, a tackling dummy would help to prevent injuries in practice. Since they are new to the sport, oftentimes their tackling form is poor.

This tackling dummy will help to prevent injuries in practice and allow the girls to practice their tackling without the risk of injuring each other.

We had numerous injuries last year, and I am looking to obtain a dummy to prevent this problem this year.
