This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Wanna have fun, girls, wanna have, books! That's the outcome I want for the girls in our book club.

I teach a group of of first graders who are always eager to read and learn.

We are a small school located in North Texas in a low-income area where over 90% of our kids are on free or reduced lunch. Our young kids come to school as sponges ready to absorb all we have to offer.

My Project

As much as our kids love learning, the interest in books seems to dwindle down as they get older. My goal is not to just spark a likeness for reading in first grade. I want to initiate a long lasting love for literature. I want them to read not because they have to read but because they want to read. We want to have two sets of books for a girls book club. The stories we want to read are Charlotte's Web and Alice in Wonderland which are two children's classic stories.

In these early years, we are helping them establish lifetime habits.

Reading should definitely be one of those necessary habits and skills. Kids should know reading is fun and have fun reading.
