My Students

There is no arguing: reading books is vital to student growth. My girls need some exciting and interesting titles to keep them turning the pages and developing their minds.

My girls just wanna have fu-un, and I want to show them how fun reading can truly be.

They are an energetic and curious bunch, and I want to focus this energy into a good book. Let's be real: middle school is one of the most difficult times in anyone's life, especially in the world of "mean girls." I want to provide a library that tackles the types of issues my girls encounter day to day. I want to show them strong female role models who survive the middle school roller coaster!

My Project

I'm inspired daily by my kids. They are curious and they love to talk. Nothing makes me happier than to hear them talking about a good book. I've requested titles that my girls have been talking about. By including these in our classroom library, I hope I can encourage my students to dive into a book. I feel that they will really connect with these books and will learn from the characters' struggles and triumphs. They can learn, not only from the words on the page, but from the relevant issues these characters encounter whether it be an abusive boyfriend or teenage drug use.

I can't control my kids access to books or strong female role models at home, but I can give them access at school with your help.

The idea of an evening at the library or Barnes and Noble with the family might seem like a "must-do" for some, but many of my girls need for me to provide this experience for them at school. Please help me make this dream a reality!
