G.I.R.L.S. Group Goes To Broadway!

My students need a class trip to Broadway to see Mary Poppins to inspire them to use their imaginations, and to prepare them for their own performance in June.

I am the third grade teacher at my school. However, I am also the G.I.R.L.S. Group Facilitator for the fifth grade girls. I mentor these girls on a weekly basis in order to prepare them for middle school, and high school. I also teach dance to them after school once a week. The girls are learning dance to prepare them for their performance in June.

The G.I.R.L.S. Group is a group of girls who are committed to being GIFTED, INTELLIGENT, RESPONSIBLE, LOVING, SISTERS. I mentor them based on these principles. My girls come from families that have very low incomes. Their parents don't have the funds to pay for such a special trip.

I am requesting tickets to take my girls to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. My students need to broaden their horizons. They will always remember the experience of going to Broadway. I believe that having that experience will empower them to know that the world is a huge place, and that they can become citizens of the world.

Your generous donation will allow my students to have an experience that will empower them to dream big. Many of the young people today can't see a bright future based on what they experience in their home life. I am requesting this donation as a way to assist me with my mentoring, so that my girls can see that there are options in the world, and that they can believe in themselves and follow their dreams in order to change the world. I remember going to Broadway for the first time when I was ten. It was such a different experience than watching a movie. I have been taking groups of children, and adults to Broadway for years now. It would be a blessing if my girls got the opportunity to go to see Mary Poppins. The experience would be very empowering for them.
