Help me give my students menstrual pads for our girls so they can feel comfortable coming to school instead of being absent when it's their time of the month.
Our students are resilient, smart and curious children who need positivity. We have a great school community filled with caring individuals who are committed to their craft. Our children have wonderful skills. Many are artistic, technologically savvy, articulate and strong. However, due to the lack of resources our students are unequipped with resources that can greatly impact them.
Our school is located in an area filled with economical challenges; poverty, drugs, mental health and trauma are in every corner.
Therefore, our students require all of the help possible to become emotionally grounded as they continue to achieve their goals. As a school with limited resources we make attempts to provide our students all we can but we need help.
As a devoted counselor, I am looking to educate our female students about personal hygiene, as their menstruals have already started. With these products, our girls will feel comfortable when it is their menstrual week; instead of staying home. Please assist me in fulfilling my goal of providing our students with these much-needed projects.
My Project
These pads will benefit our girls in multiple ways. Many of them are confused about what is happening during their time of the month because their parents rarely talk to them. All they know is that they will eventually have to deal with it on their own. Many of our girls just stay home during their week because they feel ashamed they have it.
Our girls cannot be missing school because they have normal bodily function every month.
They are missing out on schoolwork, especially the fifth graders, which is essential because next year they will transition to middle school and will not have the same support there.
Along with these products, I want to provide them with education on their female health and how they can handle this moving forward. Our girls will be so grateful to have these at their disposal.
