My Students
My students are 6th graders from East Oakland that come from various racial, social, and economic backgrounds and communities.
The students in my classes are English learners, newcomers to the country and over 90% of students are reading 2 or more grades below level.
My Project
With almost all of my student continuing to struggle with their reading comprehension and vocabulary it is important that I consistently provide reading opportunities to my students. And not only the time to read but provide quality, relevant texts that can meet my students needs.
This is where donors come in.
Your support with helping get books into my classroom. Books with interesting themes and diverse characters so my students can picture themselves as they read these adventures.
My goal is to increase the lover of reading so that the learning support happens more naturally.
