Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

These are certainly unprecedented times. When conferences concluded in March, I never imagined we would be embarking on distance learning, from the comfort of face-to-face instruction.

My students and I have now moved from the classroom to our dining rooms, home offices, and couches.

Although the mode of instructional delivery has changed drastically, the quality of instruction has not. I Zoom video conference with students daily, prepare lessons, video instructions, call, email, text message all throughout the week, all the while, ensuring the academic process in uninterrupted and their socio-emotional needs are still being met, even in these difficult times.

My Project

Students (3-5) are working through geometric concepts at this point in the year. They routinely multiply base x height to calculate area, and remember to report units in cubed form when calculating volume. My students have always possessed a hunger for more applicable and real-world skills.

With this 3D printer and printing resin, my students will be able to design a virtual prototype, using the geometric concepts they've gained and will have the ability to virtually send me the designs to either 1).

3D Print remotely or 2). 3D print their projects once we return to brick and mortar learning.
