Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teachers inspire dreams, realize potential and maximize success. In my Project Potential classroom, students are supported to be anything they want to be. My students deserve hands-on experiences that will set them up for an accomplished future. They know that it is acceptable to make mistakes because that simply means they are trying! These students are our future engineers, scientists, doctors, and CEOs.
At our Title I school, students would not get the critical skills they are worthy of if it were not for their teachers.
They come from many countries speaking different languages, but have one commonality which is their desire and love to learn! Receiving an excellent education and being exposed to technology is a necessity to inspire my learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
We need bouncy balls, bean bag chairs, couches, yoga mats, and flexible furniture to create alternative seating options in our classroom. Traditional desks and chairs are too restricting for my free thinkers! Gifted students thrive on choice. Having the choice of sitting on an exercise ball, bean bag chair or laying on the floor offers choice to students every day. They have the options when picking the best place for their thinking to thrive. The flexible seating items I am requesting will increase motivation, engagement and creativity. These items will allow students to meet their sensory needs, increase oxygen flow to their brains, and give them choice within the classroom environment. Educational research and best practices support flexible seating arrangements to help support learning within the classroom.
My gifted students have brains that are never limited, but their bodies are!
By implementing a flexible seating environment my hope is that students will have physical freedom too. I want to empower my students by giving them the opportunity to have choices.
