Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are motivated to learn new things. They are kids that do not have access to many resources at home. Many students come from a single parent home, and we have a high migrant population. Our school is a Title I school with one hundred percent receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Many students seek a safe place where they feel safe and motivated, and school is that place for the majority of them.
Students look forward to being in school each and every day.
My Project
My students are in need of a diverse selection of books. My students are second language learners, and the class set will give the opportunity for students to improve and practice their second language. For many, English is not spoken at home and they are not likely to have reading materials in English.
There are many students with different preferences and backgrounds.
This classroom library will give students the opportunity to find the books they will fall in love with. Reading is emphasized in my classroom because it allows for students to understand the outside world and different perspectives. Reading also allows them to escape from their routine.
