Help me give my students rewards and incentives for their flexibility, compassion, and engagement during distance learning this year. Distance learning is SO hard for all of us, but for high schoolers, it has been a challenge!
Art will change students and my students need the arts to discover their own potential as they face many hardships daily as the school is extremely high poverty. My school is a Title I (100% free breakfast and lunch) school where students face many challenges before even entering the school building.
The students need the arts in order to discover their own potential and to see that there are other perspectives and opportunities outside of their environment.
Art is a visual language, and the work they create will help them in all academics, as they will be writing, sketching, and designing daily. I hope that the arts will be able to empower students to see their potential.
My Project
This project is all about incentivizing and rewarding my amazing Art students for their flexibility, compassion, and engagement during distance learning this year. Distance learning is SO hard for all of us, but for high schoolers that face unprecedented poverty and stressors of how Covid 19 has affected their families, the struggle is truly real. Our group of young people has been so amazing this year, and they deserve to be rewarded!

They are engaged on Zoom, completing assignments on Schoology and other new platforms, and are resilient in highly stressful situations. They are SO resilient and amazing and they deserve a reward in the mail! This project will allow me to surprise our students with gift cards and stickers, all while supporting the post office!
