I am in a high poverty area and our kids LOVE to learn! We love to learn by playing games in our room, and many of the games that we play are ones that I have made myself. I need a printer and laminating pouches so that I can give my students variety.
My students are very diverse.
I have students who have never attended school and don't speak English to students who have had three years of preschool. My students vary from children who have no skills to children who are already above grade level standard. At my school over 50% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch, so many of these kids do not have access to games at home. By adding these resources to my classroom I am opening a whole new world to many of these students. Regardless of their background though, ALL of my students are hungry to learn!
My Project
We are requesting quality colored paper, laminating pouches and printer so that I can provide materials to my students that are not only fun to use but that will last for more than one use. Colored paper will allow games to be bright and colorful. With good laminating pouches, I can save paper and ink and not have to make and remake the same games year after year. These pouches will make my new learning games durable. We need a printer, our new technology is not supported by the old printers we have in our school and we need extra ink that will allow me to create new, differentiated games for years to come.
These items will allow me to create student specific activities to really meet the needs of my kiddos.
My students love to use games to learn. When a 5/6 year-old is in school all day long they need to use play to learn and with these items I will be able to create so much more for them and save money in the long run because I won't have to make copies or recreate the same games again and again.
