This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'm looking to fund eight Lego sets for an end of the year gift for my First Lego League Lego Robotics team. These are the kids that have shown a real interest in technology and STEM principles.
These kids are the very definition of "triumph through adversity" as this is a school that deals with disadvantaged and at-risk youth.
I couldn't be more proud of these kids as they have stepped up and proven that they are more than their circumstances and that they can overcome anything that is tossed in their paths.
My Project
I am hoping to reward my First Lego League Team (Team Globotron) with end of the year gifts to keep them interested in robotics and STEM principals. We were very fortunate to be funded by the State of Michigan for our Lego set.
These kids are at-risk and disadvantaged youth who under any other circumstances may not receive this type of reward here in the metro Detroit area.
Once they are informed that they are permitted to join the program, the magic truly begins. They meet diligently with me twice a week to build a Lego robot that we will be entering into competition on November 9.
