I teach mathematics, social science, physical education and art to the most amazing group of fifth graders. Teaming with another teacher who teaches English language arts and science, we share students and utilize our expertise to provide the best of educational experiences.
Academically, my students are focused on going to college and work hard everyday towards achieving proficiency at grade-level standards.
They are polite, cheerful and engaged. They are proud of their school and regularly participate in school-wide spirit days and assemblies. The feeling on our campus is positive and child-centered; all adults are focused on creating the school of choice.
My Project
Fifth graders come in all sizes and shapes. Unfortunately, our desks and chairs are one size. Often students will grab a laptop or their work and find a spot on the carpet for greater comfort.
Being able to comfortably sit on the ground, and actually have a desk upon which to work will be helpful to many of my students.
These Lap Desks will allow groups of students to work on the floor, or outside on the lawn and provide a seat and a desk. The two stability balls will allow students to wiggle as needed and still be productive!
