At our school, we strive to help our students learn ELAR, math, science, social studies, and their other subjects in a multitude of ways. With access to the few resources we have, I use what's available to me to get my students where they need to be. They try to stay as engaged as possible, and they just want to do their best. My students do have a bit of a disadvantage in this area. Most of our students are below the poverty line. The coronavirus pandemic hasn't made things any better. In fact, it made matters so much worse. As a teacher, I find myself trying to find as many resources as I can to help my students as much as possible. I do what I can with what I have, and I'm always seeking ways to make things more accessible for my students. My students are currently learning from home, and it's already been a challenge to get my students pumped up to attend a Zoom meeting. I would like to get more materials that will help me, help my students more.
These materials will help my students in the way of giving them the added tools they need to be successful. While I don't have the most resources to convey everything that I want to my students, I want to be able to give them more of what I feel like can aid in their education. My students and I have Zoom meetings, and I create lessons for them. It has been very difficult to give them the sense of normalcy they are used to having in the school. I would love to be able to project the materials I am giving my students because, like me, most of my students are visual learners.
I want to provide my students with as much info as I can because the next school year will be much more difficult if they're not getting what they need.
I’ll use the gift cards to purchase manipulatives, books, writing templates, task cards, and an array of activities that will help my students be better prepared for their meetings with me and simply for what’s ahead in the remainder of 3rd grade, and what’s to come in 4th grade. The goal that I’m seeking is for my students to at least be on somewhat of their level for when physical classrooms resume.
