My Students

SIT STILL! For my students, this just is not an option. They need to move, yet I still need them in class.

My students are special education students in a high poverty school.

Many are affected by ADHD and other disorders. They have a need to move and fidget. They WANT to learn, and WANT to focus, but it is so difficult. They have important contributions to the class, but they need a way to help stay focused and centered.

My Project

I am requesting unique seating options for my students. Therapy balls (big balls to sit on) and T-stools. (Stools with one leg in the center.) With these options my students will be able to get the movement they need to stay centered, without distracting the class. I am also requesting fidgets and age-appropriate chewies. This will give them more options to stay focused in an age-appropriate way.

All students can learn, some have different learning styles.

I want to help my students succeed in school by matching learning styles. The need for movement cannot be stopped, just directed in appropriate ways. Give my students what they need. For now, and in the future.
