This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students love to come to school, for many of my students school is a getaway from what is going on at home and is the only structure that they get daily.
I teach on a Title 1 campus, which means many of the students come from a low income household and 90% of the school gets free or reduced price lunch.
Many of my students were severely impacted by Hurricane Harvey this past August. Many students have been displaced and are still displaced from the hurricane.
My students have really big hearts and care a lot for each other. They love to learn and tell others all about the learning that they have done.
My Project
I work at a Title 1 school which means many of my students come from low income homes, this also means that they do not have access to much technology outside of the classroom. I currently only have 4 computers in my classroom, it is very hard to incorporate technology into my first grade classroom when we only have 4 computers to work with. Technology is not going anywhere in education and I want to make sure that my students have the opportunity to use technology at school in all subject areas.
My students need Kindle Fires to be able to have more access to technology in our classroom.
By having more technology my students will be able to do research for projects, they will be able to play different apps and games that will help them practice what we are learning in class through stations.
By donating these Kindle Fires, more of my students will have the opportunity to use technology at school in all subject areas, this will help my students become better learners and better students.
