My fourth graders attend school in a small rural district. Most of the students in the district qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. A lot of these students come to school without the basic supplies needed. This is an amazing district that cares tremendously about the students that attend school here.
These students are very motivated to learn and achieve new things, but they do not always have resources available to them.
They are great kids and they deserve to have the very best, just like any other students.
Any donations made to this project will make a significant difference in the lives of not just the children that are in my classroom this school year, but also all the students that will come into my classroom in the future. These projects are so special because it gives my students a connection to the outside world. It helps me get across to them that the world is bigger than they know. I make sure to let them know that there are people out there other than me, their parents and family that care a great deal about their education and their future.
My Project
Each of these items will be very beneficial to the learning of my students. We will use the chromcast with our daily lessons to practice our reaing skills. This piece of technology will allow me to walk around the room with my tablet while still changing the display on the board. Anything that I write on my tablet will display on board as well. This feature will give me the capability to be anywhere in the room while teaching a lesson, it will also be useful when I want the students to take turns practicing on the board.
Using different teaching resources is crucial for a better learning environment.
To build my students' interest, I try to incorporate technology as much as possible in our daily lessons. One of the ways I do this is by using different online learning programs. These programs use games and videos to help build the students' understanding. Because of this, they require sound, which can be distracting when there are twenty kids in the room. The headphones would help eliminate our sound problems when practicing on the computers. The headphones will also be useful when listening to the audio books. We read complete novels as our reading curriculum. Having the audio books will help teach the students how to read with better expression and will builds their listening skills. However, when students are absent they need a quite space to catch up on the chapters they missed. The double-muffed headphones and audio books allow them to break away from the noise and stay up-to-date on all of our reading.
