Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an awesome, energetic group of diverse kids. They all come with a variety of skills. Some students have attended pre-school, but for the majority of them, this is there first school experience.
From day one, this group of students' came into Kindergarten eager to learn, curious and ready to be challenged.
They all come from different backgrounds, with working parents that are as committed as I am to their child's success. I want to give them the opportunity to learn through a variety of tools to enhance and support their learning.
My Project
The requested Amazon Fire tablets would help my students play games through educational apps that would align with the common core standards. For example: number sense and reading comprehension. The Amazon Fire tablets would also help to motivate students when many of them are struggling with the academic skills like letter recognition. The students will also enjoy listening to stories that could be read to them individually (using the headphones) or in a group setting through ebooks. I do a lot of center based learning in the classroom with small groups and the tablets could become a center for the students to play educational games and work in partners.
I believe that having this technology in the classroom would motivate students to learn.
Many students have never had the chance to work on or play with this type of technology.
There are so many resources online through educational apps that could benefit the students that needs to be challenged as well as the students that need additional practice.
